Zakir Naik accomplished mission with Perlis Mufti to spread hate – Hindraf
KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 21: Fugitive preacher Dr Zakir Naik, has succeeded in stirring the pot in Malaysia expressed Hindraf chief P. Waytha Moorthy, describing the Perlis Mufti Datuk Dr Asri Zainal Abidin as an example with his poem condemning the Hindu community.
Waytha also urged the Inspector-General Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar to arrest Asri over what he claims to be a seditious post by the mufti on his Facebook page.
“He (Asri) has basically insulted the Hindu’s in Malaysia and in India, as well as, having created hatred among the Muslim’s towards the Hindu’s in this country.
“This is typical Zakir Naik effect.
“So Zakir Naik has succeeded, it shows if he can do this to a mufti, he can do it to anyone, what more an ordinary person.
“So it goes to show what we have been saying all the while is true, if someone in such a high esteemed office can behave in such a manner, clearly shows the truth,” Waytha told The Malaysian Time (TMT) today.
When questioned if he felt that the poem was directed to him, Waytha said he does not believe it is solely for him as MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam had finally voiced out against the controversial preacher.
“He is lumping up all the Hindus together because suddenly Datuk Subra finally found some courage to speak about it.
“I feel that Dr Asri has committed sedition, previously I have written to the IGP saying that he had committed criminal defamation.
“Now, he has committed sedition, IGP should order for the arrest of Dr Asri for investigation of sedition.
“Applying Article 8, equality among citizens, any other citizen that commits sedition will be arrested.
“Even the person that dropped the yellow balloons was arrested, when a person can be arrested for that, what more in Asri’s case,” said the lawyer.
Letter for the arrest of Zakir Naik
Waytha had also sent a letter addressed to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and the IGP to seek to maintain peaceful co-existence of the country and be rid of Zakir Naik, who he described as a “national security threat”.
“It has now come to the international attention that hate preacher Zakir Naik who is being given a VIP treatment and roaming free in Malaysia has been issued 2 non-bailable warrants of arrests by Republic of India as follows;
a) The Prevention of Money Laundering Act Special Court, had issued a non-bailable warrant against Naik in a money-laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate, on the 13th April 2017 for violation underSection 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PML) 2002.
b) The Special Court in Mumbai issued a second non-bailable warrant of arrest on 20th April 2017 upon an application by India’s National Investigations Agency (NIA) under section 153-A of Indian Penal Code and under Section 15 in the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 for terrorism related activities.
In the letter, Waytha added that Zakir Naik seem to be confessing to his crime of promoting terrorism openly at the press conference held with Perkasa last week.
“I trust the police had taken note of the said statement. (his admissions are available on youtube) .
“Mr. Prime Minister, just weeks ago you had made an official visit to India and met the Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and shook his hand at his office just like what I did years ago.
“Does this mean you too are a criminal?
“Are we just going to sit idle and watch this hate preacher inciting hatred and instigating the Muslims in Malaysia to take action against me by his lies?
“I once again implore on your good selves to place our country’s national security interests’ priority and take immediate steps to secure the arrest of Zakir Naik.
“We would look bad in international eyes if eventually government comes up with the story it has no knowledge of the whereabouts of Zakir Naik or that he has left the country to unknown destination,” said Waytha.
