Young Turkish film makers on Hollywood route
LOS ANGELES, March 3 — Young Turkish film makers in the United States gathered and brought Turkish movies to Hollywood for the first time in history, Turkey’s Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
Famous Turkish directors will meet with American audiences via the Los Angeles Turkish film festival. The festival started with a reception held by Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles.
Famous director Dervis Zaim’s movie, “Golgeler ve Suretler” (Shadows & Faces) will be the first movie screened at the festival which takes place at Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.
The festival jury members are: Dervis Zaim, Alin Tashcian, President of South California University Animation and Digital Art department Kathy Smith, President of California University TV, Digital Media Department Barbara Boyle, and Los Angeles Museum Film Curator Elvis Mitchell.
A total of 10 short films will be screended at the festival, which aims to build a bridge between talented young Turkish short film directors and the Hollywood film sector. The festival, which also includes panel discussions and short movies from Japan, will end on March 4 with an award ceremony.
