UMNO youth lodges police report over allegations party registering foreigners for GE14
KOTA KINABALU, Feb 17: Sabah UMNO Youth today lodged a police report against a Facebook user and a blog site which posted an article alleging that UMNO was registering foreigners with the National Registration Department (JPN) in preparating for the 14th general election (GE14).
Its secretary Mohd Bahrin Abd Karim said he was saw the article on the blog site while surfing the Internet at about 7.30 pm last night.
The article titled ‘Strategi BN UMNO Rakyat Sabah Perlu Bijak Membuat Pilihan Demi Hak Sabahan dan Masa Depan Anak Cucu Cicit Kita’ was also shared that particular Facebook account, he said.
“The user of the Facebook account at the material time had made false accusations with bad intent to taint the good name and integrity of UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN).
“The blog also accused UMNO of starting to register foreigners via JPN in preparation for 14th general election in Sabah and alleged that JPN issued about 30,000 registration receipts to be distributed to the 13 new state constituencies in the state,” he told reporters after lodging the report at the Kota Kinabalu police headquarters here.
Mohd Bahrin said Sabah UMNO Youth urged police to investigate and take stern action against the Facebook user and the blog site owner.
He said the wing also wanted the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to act against the errant sites.
“Stern actions should be taken as they deliberately disseminate false news…which can cause anxiety, confusion, uneasiness and hatred among the people against the government, JPN, BN, and UMNO,” he said.
