Shahrizat slams critics

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil hit out at her critics who doubted the strength of Wanita Umno following the recent controversy, calling them “arm-chair” critics. The Wanita Umno chief challenged all her critics, including her predecessor Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, to come with her to the ground to see for themselves the strength and unity of the Wanita Umno and Wanita Barisan Nasional members.
“People must not be arm-chair critics.
“I do not subscribe to being an arm-chair critic.
“Do not talk from Kuala Lumpur. Just go to the ground and visit the branches and talk to the women and you will know that their spirits are very high. ”I am inviting all my critics to come with me to the ground and be with the people and be with Wanita Umno,” she said after attending the tahfiz Quran recital by 1,000 young scholars at the Federal Territory mosque here.
Shahrizat said this when asked about critics within Wanita Umno, including her deputy, who had previously expressed concern over the strength of the wing. Sharizat is also the Barisan Nasional women’s wing chief. This evening’s programme marks her last day as Women, Family and Community Development Minister. Her senatorship ends Sunday.
