KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 21: Pos Malaysia Berhad will issue a collection of stamps and philately in conjunction with the coronation of Sultan Muhammad V as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Monday ( April 24).
Pos Malaysia Stamp and Philately Unit chief Diyana Lean Abdullah said the stamps were being issued to honour Sultan Muhammad V, and as a token of appreciation of His Majesty.
She said the stamps would go on sale at post offices across the country on April 25, except in Perlis, Kedah and Negeri Sembilan, where it will be sold on April 26.
“For this special edition, it will depict His Majesty in formal attire as head of state. The stamp is very special because it uses gold print ink,” she told a press conference here, today.
Diyana said the stamp collection titled “Raja Sebagai Pemerintah Negara” is being released in two designs, namely 200,000 perforated pieces to be sold for 60sen each, and 5,000 non-perforated ones worth RM12 a piece.
She said the stamp collection also came with a Miniature Sheet featuring the image of Sultan Muhammad V taking his oath of office, and signing the letter of oath.
In addition, she said the First Day Cover (FDC) with a stamp was priced at RM1.15, and the FDC with a Miniature Sheet would be RM5.85. Customers can also purchase the complete set of folders containing stamps and other philately at RM44.10.
In the meantime, Diyana said Pos Malaysia Berhad would for the very first time release a special stamp in conjunction with Mother”s Day, which falls on May 14.
She said the stamps worth RM21.20 each would be on sale from April 21 to May 14, and available at all post offices as well as online.
“Apart from that, in conjunction with Teacher”s Day, Pos Malaysia has also made three stamp designs worth RM10.60 a piece, specifically for students. It will go on sale from April 17 to May 16,” she said.
