KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13: The police have recorded statements from 23 people to facilitate investigations into a quarrel involving two groups of men at the office of the Tamil Malar Daily in Jalan Ipoh here on Sept 5.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh said the individuals comprised those from the newspaper management, MIC and witnesses.
“Seven police reports were lodged…three people claimed they were assaulted and sustained minor injuries in the 11.30am incident,” he said in a statement here today.
Amar Singh said the police were scrutinising the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and videos recorded on mobile phones which went viral on Facebook.
“Checks on all the recordings revealed that both parties were seen facing one another before the quarrel broke out, and pushing one another,” he said, adding that based on the footage, there were less than 30 individuals involved in the fracas.
He urged those who witnessed the incident to contact the police to assist in the investigations.
