TAIPING, Mar 8: The police have detained a labourer to assist in the investigation on a man who was stabbed after he was believed to be involved in a quarrel near the Capitol Club, here yesterday afternoon.
Taiping OCPD, ACP Harrith Kam Abdullah said the 57-year-old suspect was detained this morning with a knife near the location of the incident.
He said a urine test revealed that the suspect was positive for drug and remanded for six days until March 13 under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to assist in the investigation of a case under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
“In the incident at 2pm yesterday, a 34-year-old Indian man was injured in the neck and abdomen after he was stabbed during a fight,” he said in a statement, here today.
Harrith Kam said police investigation revealed that the incident was due to a personal issue between the suspect and the victim who was now being treated at the Intensive Care Unit of the Taiping Hospital.
