Peugeot targets 2,500 units sales for 2017

PETALING JAYA, Jan 11: Naza Corp Holdings Sdn Bhd’s unit, Nasim Sdn Bhd, the official distributor for Automobiles Peugeot in Malaysia, has increased its sales target to 2,500 units for 2017 from 1,700 units last year.

Naza Corp Automotive Group Chief Operating Officer, Datuk Samson Anand George, said the target was based on the launch of five models to complement the current line-up this year.

“We have set a collective target of 1,100 units, or 44 per cent, of our sales target on the newly-launched Peugeot 208 and Peugeot 2008.

“We are optimistic of a sales growth this year as there would be one multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and another two suburban utility vehicle (SUV) slated for launch in the second half of 2017,” he told reporters at the launch of the Peugeot 208 and 2008 facelifts here today.

Anand said from 1,100 units set for the two models, the forecast sales ratio could be 60:40 for Peugeot 208 hatchback and the 2008 SUV, respectively.

“On-the-road selling price is RM89,888 for the 208 five-door hatchback and RM109,888 for the 2008 SUV crossover,” he said.

He said beside the new hatchback and SUV and the coming launches, the group would also offer its C and D segment sedans in its current line-up this year.

On the impact of weak ringgit on the sales and car pricing, Anand said, the brand was currently still selling at competitive rate.

“However, the price increase due to continuous and excessive movements of the foreign exchange may become a situation that would become unavoidable.

“At some point, price increases by car players are inevitable because the exchange rate has changed so much. The companies can’t go on doing business without any return or profit,” he said.
