One hot ‘Love Rain’
KBS’ TV series Love Rain, starring Hallyu star Jang Keun-suk and Girls’ Generation’s Yoona has garnered much attention from overseas buyers, with distribution rights sold to 12 countries.
After being pre-sold to Japan before its premiere in South Korea, the show’s promoter, Y Tree Media, announced that Love Rain has been sold to China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Cambodia, the United States and Europe.
The agency added that it was one of the most sought after series during the content market, MIPTV, in Cannes, France, last month.
“The actors and the crew of Love Rain were extremely excited to hear the news that the distribution rights to the series was sold to so many countries.”
Love Rain will begin screening on Japan’s cable channel KN TV starting May 26 and on Fuji TV in July. In the series, helmed by Yoon Suk-ho, Jang plays both Seo In-ha living in the 1970s and his son Seo Jun living in 2012, while Yoona takes on the roles of Kim Yoon-hee and her daughter Jung Hana.
Also, veteran artistes Jung Jin-young and Lee Mi-sook play the older version of the aforementioned characters.
