Network drops CSI:Miami, picks up four new shows 

NEW YORK – David Caruso has whipped off those sunglasses for the final time: CBS has cancelled veteran drama series CSI: Miami, as well the freshman dramas Unforgettable, A Gifted Man, NYC 22, and the comedy Rob. The star of A Gifted Man took to Twitter to vent about the news.

CSI: Miami, which premiered in 2002, is the first series in the network’s CSI franchise to be cancelled. CSI has aired since 2000, and underwent a revamp this season with the addition of Ted Danson to the cast. CSI: NY is also expected back next season.

“CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy — a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade,” CBS said in a statement. “We thank all the producers — led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.”

A Gifted Man star Patrick Wilson tweeted about his show’s end: “So…shocking to no one: #agiftedman is done. Found out via email…and not from the network. Stay classy. Thanks to AGM fans! … but now that it’s “official,” I couldn’t be happier. As good as it was (sometimes) it was not what I signed on for.”

The cancellations Sunday came as CBS ordered several new series, including the dramas Elementary, Vegas, Made In Jersey, and Golden Boy, the comedies Friend Me and Partners, and the reality series The Job.
