Motorcyclist, pillion-rider buried alive in landslide

KOTA KINABALU, Jan 12: A landslide occurred along Jalan Marak Parak near Kampung Tandahawon in Kota Marudu today, burying alive two men passing that stretch on a motorcycle.

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department said the landslide trapped the men, which it identified as Jaiman Bien, 39, and Edmond James, 22, at 7.20 am.

Jaiman’s body was recovered at 8.31 am and Edmond’s at 9.28 am, it said in a statement.

The department handed the bodies over to the police, it said, adding that it had sent 14 firefighters to the scene after being notified of the landslide.– Bernama
