KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 : A former member of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s sodomy trial legal team has called on voters to think very carefully
on Anwar’s suitability to take over the helm of the country. Yuktes Vijay, who was part of Anwar’s legal team for three years, said he decided to leave in August last year after realising that the man he idolised was not the person he expected to be.
According to him, there were many sides to Anwar’s personality that many people may not be aware of.
“He was even capable of using his health conditions to get people’s attention,” he told Bernama.
Yuktes said the opportunity to observe Anwar had allowed him to make an informed opinion on Anwar’s leadership style.
On Anwar’s claim that he stood for democratic principles, Yuktes said it could not be denied that there were other leaders who were doing a better job of promoting democracy.
He further said that voters should consider the pros and cons before choosing Anwar to lead Malaysia as they were the ones who would have to live with the consequences of their decision for the next five years. Yuktes said as far as he was concerned, he would like Malaysia to be helmed by a prime minister who would bring the country to greater heights rather than someone who would do the opposite.
He added that Malaysians should be appreciative of what the Barisan Nasional coalition had done for the country all these years and foresaw that greater things were in store for them if the BN was returned to power. — BERNAMA
