KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17: The Management and staff of The Malaysian Times (TMT) wishes all Indian readers a very happy and prosperous Deepavali and “Deepavali Valthukal”.
Indians have contributed significantly to the building of Malaysia since the 19th century.
The Indian workforce was instrumental in the clearing of land for infrastructure, establishing rubber plantations, building the roads, setting up transmission lines as well as managing early Malayan railways, ports and airports.
Indian doctors, chemists and veterinarians formed the bulk of medical personnel in Malaysia – their contributions still persist to present day.
Many major challenges in various sectors involving the Indian community have received the attention of the Government.
In celebration of Deepavali TMT CEO Datuk Anbumani Balan has urged the Indian community to unite as it is essential for the growth of the Indian community.
“You always hear the political leaders wanting the communities to unite….it is a fact, united we stand, divided we fall.
“So keeping that in mind, the Indian leaders needs to put aside their ego and all other negative energy, because for a minority group to strengthen, they must first come together, especially during Deepavali,” said Anbumani
He said that Indian community needs to focus on bettering their socio economic crisis by empowering the economy and to focus on education within the community.
He added: “We should work hard together as a single cohesive unit to achieve our success in education, uplift our economic situation and remain united and loyal to our country.”
He further added that everyone in the Indian community should cooperate together in highlighting the plight of the Indians in our beautiful country.
