Businessman claims trial to Makkah hotel room investment fraud
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11: A businessman was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with two counts of fraud related to a purported hotel room lease investment deal in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Sheikh Saidey Nor Sheikh Abdul Rahman, 43, who was unrepresented, claimed trial to misleading and inducing Mohd Ismail Norbat to deposit RM324,300 into three accounts belonging to Nor Hazeerena Hamdan.
The amount was then allegedly transferred into eight accounts belonging to the accused.
Sheikh Saidey allegedly committed the offences at Maybank Desa Pandan here, between Nov 27, 2015 and June 30, 2016.
Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid did not grant bail and set Feb 14 for remention.
Deputy public prosecutor Noorelynna Hanim Abd Halim appeared for the prosecution.
Yesterday, Sheikh Saidey claimed trial in Johore Baharu Magistrate’s Court to two charges of fraud related to a purported investment programme involving Islamic Hotel in Makkah and Madinah.
His wife Sofia Affendi, 42, was charged with abetting him in the two alleged offences.
