GEORGE TOWN, March 11 — The Penang Gerakan is in the process of assessing potential candidates for the coming 13th general election, which will include new faces, its president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said.

“There will be new faces, that’s for sure. As to how many of them, we will let you know when the time comes,” he told reporters after handing over RM500,000 in contribution from the Prime Minister’s Department to The Buddhist Triple Wisdom Hall.

Asked about Barisan Nasional’s chances of winning in Penang, Dr Koh said each party has the chance of winning, either in a general election or a by-election.

“We are hoping that the people will make a wise decision; whether the decision favours us or not, it’s up to the people.

“The important thing is we must have a good and correct strategy to gain the support of the people,” said Dr Koh, who is Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

Asked about the statement by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng that the opposition pact would be able to attract 90 per cent of the support from the Chinese and Indian voters, Dr Koh said: “We don’t know what the basis for his claim is. Let’s leave it to the people.”
